Indore Excise Department Cracks Down on Illegal Liquor Transport

In a swift and coordinated operation against illegal liquor trade, the Indore Excise Department carried out a major crackdown on illegal liquor manufacturing, storage, and transportation, seizing five vehicles and arresting five accused. The total value of seized liquor and vehicles is estimated at ₹3.70 lakh.

The operation was conducted under the directives of Collector Shri Shivam Verma and the effective supervision of Assistant Excise Commissioner Shri Abhishek Tiwari. Teams led by Controller Shri Devesh Chaturvedi and Deputy Controller Manoj Agrawal executed multiple raids across different locations on October 29–30, successfully curbing illicit liquor activities.

Circle-1 (Internal) Operation

Under the leadership of Shri Ashish Jain, the team intercepted a two-wheeler transporting foreign liquor (whisky) illegally. The liquor and vehicle were seized, and a case was registered under Section 34(1)(A) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915 against the accused Sagar, son of Rajesh. The total value of the seized items was approximately ₹80,000. Excise constables Mukesh Rawat, Virendra Patel, Vipul Khare, and Narmada Alawa played commendable roles in the action.

Palasia Circle Operation

Led by Circle Officer Priyanka Rani Chaurasia, the team confiscated a two-wheeler carrying 100 bottles of country-made liquor. The vehicle and liquor were seized, and a case was registered under the same Act against Sandeep Raikwar, son of Naresh Raikwar. The total value of the seized material was around ₹92,500. Excise constables Tarun Singh Jat, Paramjit Kaur, and Ajay Chandrawal were key contributors to the successful operation.

Malwa Mill (B) Circle Operation

Under the command of Shri Sunil Malviya, two major actions were executed. In one, a two-wheeler transporting a case of foreign liquor (London Pride whisky) was seized from accused Yugal, son of Kanwarlal. In another, a case of foreign rum was confiscated from accused Sarjan, son of Umrao. The combined market value of seized liquor and vehicles was around ₹1,28,000. Constables Vikram Yadav, Vijay Solanki, Arvind Sharma, and Vipul Khare were instrumental in these operations.

Mhow Circle Operation

In Mhow, under the leadership of Assistant District Excise Officer Shri Ganpat Singh Dhudh and Excise Sub-Inspector Kritika Dwivedi, the team seized a Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle (without number plate) carrying 10 liters of illicit country-made liquor. The vehicle and liquor were confiscated, and a case was registered against Golu Karosia, son of Vinod Karosia under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915, Section 34(1)(A). The estimated value of the seizure was ₹70,000, with constable Reena Bhidre earning special appreciation for her efforts.

Unified Result and Departmental Message

Across all operations, the department seized five two-wheelers and a significant quantity of illegal liquor, with the total estimated market value reaching ₹3,70,500.

Assistant Excise Commissioner Shri Abhishek Tiwari stated,

“The Excise Department is conducting continuous and intensive actions against illicit liquor traders. These arrests send a strong message that no form of illegal liquor transport or sale will be tolerated in Indore district. Our teams are fully committed to maintaining peace, safety, and public health. We urge citizens to report any such unlawful activities immediately to the Excise Department.”
