Sardar Patel Stood Firm on the Principle of ‘Nation First’: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav

Indore, October 31, 2025:
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid glowing tributes to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 150th birth anniversary, describing him as a symbol of unwavering patriotism, visionary leadership, and indomitable willpower that united a fragmented India into one nation.

Addressing the gathering at Shaurya Smarak during the “Run for Unity” event, Dr. Yadav said that Sardar Patel’s historic role in integrating 562 princely states after independence remains one of the greatest administrative achievements in world history. “He embodied the rare blend of firmness and compassion—unyielding in matters of national interest, yet deeply empathetic toward the people. He truly understood the pulse of the nation,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Yadav flagged off the Run for Unity to promote national integration and solidarity, administered the oath of national unity, and inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp. The occasion featured patriotic songs and floral tributes to Bharat Mata and Sardar Patel.

Highlighting Patel’s life journey, Dr. Yadav said, “Born into a humble farmer’s family, Sardar Patel rose to greatness through dedication and service. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, he became the backbone of India’s freedom struggle—from the Bardoli Satyagraha, which earned him the title of ‘Sardar,’ to the Salt and Quit India movements.

The Chief Minister recalled how Patel foiled the British plan to fragment India by persuading and negotiating with princely rulers, including those of Hyderabad, Junagadh, and Bhopal, to merge with the Indian Union. “His political acumen, courage, and diplomacy transformed a divided land into a united nation,” he emphasized.

Dr. Yadav further stated that, as India’s first Home Minister, Patel strengthened the administrative framework by establishing key central services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), to maintain unity and efficiency in governance.

Recalling Patel’s contribution to the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple, Dr. Yadav said, “He believed that temples should be rebuilt with public participation, reflecting the spirit of faith and national pride.” Drawing a parallel with the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this vision of cultural unity and spiritual strength has come alive.”

Referring to Patel’s foresight on national security, the Chief Minister remarked, “When the issue of Jammu and Kashmir was taken to the United Nations, Patel had warned it was a mistake. Today, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India stands firm on Patel’s principle—solving its problems independently, without external mediation.”

Dr. Yadav described the Statue of Unity at Kevadia as “not just the world’s tallest statue, but a monumental tribute to India’s unity, integrity, and pride.”

Emphasizing the essence of democracy, he said, “Sardar Patel worked beyond political boundaries, always keeping the nation above all. True democracy lies in honoring those who act for the nation, not for a party.”

Concluding his address, Dr. Yadav urged citizens to draw inspiration from Patel’s legacy and pledged to uphold India’s unity, dignity, and honor.

The event was also addressed by Minister for Culture and Tourism Dharmendra Lodhi and attended by Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, Minister of State Krishna Gaur, BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal, MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Bhagwandas Sabnani, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, along with a large gathering of students, youth, and dignitaries.
