Why Was Nitish Mishra Denied a Cabinet Berth? Anger Erupts in Madhubani Despite His Big Victory

A wave of resentment has emerged in Madhubani district, particularly among the Maithil Brahmin community, after senior BJP leader and former Industries Minister Nitish Mishra was denied a place in the newly formed Nitish Kumar-led NDA government. Despite securing a massive win in the 2025 Assembly Elections and having a strong performance record, he was not included in the 26-member cabinet, triggering widespread anger among his supporters.

Supporters Question Exclusion Despite Strong Track Record

Nitish Mishra, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Dr. Jagannath Mishra, served as the Industries Minister in the previous government. His tenure is widely credited for significant development work in the region.

However, despite his high-profile victory and previous ministerial performance, the decision to exclude him from the cabinet has shocked his supporters. Many within the Maithil Brahmin community believe this move is unjust and politically insensitive.

Maithil Brahmin Community Expresses Strong Discontent

Locals argue that the Maithil Brahmin vote bank has consistently supported the NDA—especially the BJP—across elections. They feel that removing their prominent representative from the cabinet is nothing less than a betrayal.

A local BJP leader from Udaian village in Benipatti subdivision, Randhir Thakur, expressed deep disappointment, saying:
“Mishra ji was not just a minister; he was our bridge to development. Rewarding others while sidelining him feels like a breach of trust.”

Growing Frustration After Cabinet Formation

The dissatisfaction is not limited to party workers alone—ordinary voters, youth groups, and community leaders have echoed similar concerns. They fear this decision may weaken the party’s influence in the region and alienate a loyal voter base.

Political observers note that Nitish Mishra’s exclusion may have long-term implications for NDA’s social and political balance in Mithilanchal.
